Mitchell S. Rosenthal, M.D.
Mitchell S. Rosenthal, M.D. is president of Phoenix House, a private, non-profit organization that operates nearly 100 treatment and prevention programs in New York, California, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Maine, treating thousands of adults and teenagers each day. A psychiatrist and pioneer in the drug-free treatment of substance abuse, Dr. Rosenthal has been a White House advisor on drug abuse, a special consultant to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and chairman (from 1985 to 1997) of the New York State Advisory Council on Substance Abuse. Dr. Rosenthal is a lecturer in psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
