  1. Why should I register for HBO.com?

    By registering for HBO.com, you will have greater access to content, including unedited video and the opportunity to participate in the community. As a community member, you can contribute by creating discussions, liking and replying to the other users' conversations.

  2. Why do I need to provide personal information to sign-up for HBO.com?

    HBO's content and website is meant for a mature audience; we require basic personal information, including date of birth, to ensure that our unedited content and community cannot be accessed by minors. We will never sell or rent your information to a third party or use it without your permission.

  3. What does HBO do with the information that's collected?

    HBO will never sell or rent your information to a 3rd party or use it without our permission.  For more information, please review our Privacy Policy.

  4. Why do I need to activate my account?

    Account activation is required in to help prevent anyone else from setting up HBO.com accounts in your name. By requiring you to acknowledge receipt of an email sent to your inbox, we hope to confirm that the person with access to the email account is the person who registered.

  5. Why can't I use my old HBO.com Community screen name?

    The system does not allow the use of periods, spaces or special characters in screen names. You can update your screen name by removing any of these characters—or create a brand new one upon signing in to the site for the first time. After that, you will not be prompted again—or permitted—to change your screen name.

  6. How do I change my screen name?

    Upon initial sign in, you will be prompted to enter a screen name. Once that name has been chosen, it cannot be changed as it is your primary identity across HBO.com.

  7. What is an avatar?

    An avatar is an image used to represent your user identity within the HBO.com Community. You can select one of your favorite HBO characters or upload an image of your own.

  8. Can I upload my own Avatar?

    Yes. Once you are logged in, you can upload a custom avatar by clicking on the My Settings link in the HBO.com Community pages and clicking on the Avatars tab.

  9. How do I change my Avatar?

    You can change your avatar by clicking on the My Settings link in the HBO.com community pages and clicking on the Avatars tab.

  10. Why was my Avatar rejected?

    If your avatar was rejected, it may not comply with HBO.com Community Standards. Please upload a new avatar.

  11. I'm a non-US Resident: Why can't I register for your site?

    At this time, only U.S. residents can register for HBO.com.

  12. Why can't I login successfully?

    If you are unable to login successfully, you may need to activate your account. Upon your initial registration, an email was sent to the address you provided containing an activation link. In order to successfully login, you must click on that link and activate your email address.

    Already activated? You may need to reset your password. To do this, click the Forgot Password link in the login box, enter your email address and click Send. You will receive an email from HBO.com* with instructions for how to reset your password. When you receive the email, click the reset link and follow the on-screen instructions.

    *Please be aware, activation and forgotten password emails are often blocked or go into spam folders. Please check your spam folder if you have not received an activation or password recovery email within 24 hours before contacting HBO. If you have not received an activation or password recovery email after 24 hours, please contact siteadmin@hbo.com for assistance.

  13. I forgot my password, what do I do?

    Click the Forgot Password link in the login box, enter your email address and click Send. You will receive an email from HBO.com* with instructions for how to reset your password. When you receive the email, click the reset link and follow the on-screen instructions.

    *Please be aware, activation and forgotten password emails are often blocked or go into spam folders. Please check your spam folder if you have not received an activation or password recovery email within 24 hours before contacting HBO.   14. How do I update my account information?

    You can change your account information from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to change your account information, select Account. Once you've updated the information you would like to change, be sure to click Save to save your changes.

  15. How do I unsubscribe from HBO communications?

    If you are a registered user, you can unsubscribe from HBO communications from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to unsubscribe from HBO communications, select Subscriptions. Once you've updated the newsletter information you would like to change, be sure to click Save to save your changes. If you are not a registered user, you can unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter in your inbox.

  16. Why can't I access certain video content?

    HBO.com now has video content intended for a mature audience (TVMA).  In order to access this content, you enter your birthdate or log in.

  17. How do I delete my account? What happens to my account information and site activity?

    If you'd like to delete your account, please email siteadmin@hbo.com.  Be sure to include your login information and Display Name.  Your account information will be completely removed from HBO's system and all content authored by you will become unattributed.

  18. How can I change my registered email address?

    You can change your email address from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to change your email address, select Account. Once you've updated your email address, be sure to click Save to save your changes. You will be prompted to confirm that you entered your email address correctly. Review your email address and click Yes to complete the change or No to correct it. Once you complete this process, you will receive an email from HBO.com with instructions for activating your new address. When you receive this email, click the activation link and follow the on-screen instructions.
