  1. Why should I register for HBO.com?

    By registering for HBO.com, you will have greater access to content including unedited video, the ability to personalize your schedule and dashboard, and the opportunity to participate in the community.  As a community member you can contribute by creating discussions and polls, commenting on content, and rating and replying to the other users' conversations.

  2. I'm a current HBO.com user, why do I need to re-register for the new HBO.com?

    In order to provide access to new site features like personalization, unedited video and events and the community participation, additional information is required by all previously registered users. The re-registration process allows you to quickly add this information without the hassle of starting from scratch.

  3. Why do I need to provide personal information to sign-up for HBO.com?

    HBO's content and website is meant for a mature audience; we require basic personal information incuding date of birth to ensure that our unedited content and community cannot be accessed by minors.  We will never sell or rent your information to a third party or use it without your permission.

  4. What does HBO do with the information that's collected?

    HBO will never sell or rent your information to a 3rd party or use it without our permission.  For more information, please review our Privacy Policy.

  5. Why do I need to activate my account?

    Account activation is required in to help prevent anyone else from setting up HBO.com accounts in your name. By requiring you to acknowledge receipt of an e-mail sent to your inbox, we hope to confirm that the person with access to the e-mail account is the person who registered.

  6. Why can't I use my current HBO.com Display Name?

    At HBO.com, we strongly encourage users to identify themselves in the community by using a version of their real name as their username. This way, as you build a reputation, you are recognized and rewarded for being YOU.  During the re-registration process you will be able to select a new Display Name to complete the update of your HBO.com identity.

  7. Can I create my own Display Name?

    You cannot create your own Display Name. Instead, you will be presented with several Display Name options during the registration process. Simply select the option that you would like to use as your display name and complete the registration process to create your HBO.com identity.

  8. How do I change my Display Name?

    As it is your primary identity across HBO.com, you cannot change your display name.

  9. What is an avatar?

    An avatar is an image used to represent your user identity within the HBO.com community. You can select one of your favorite HBO characters or upload an image of your own.

  10. Can I upload my own Avatar?

    Yes. You can upload a custom Avatar during the registration process, or from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to upload your own Avatar, select Account, click Upload Photo and select a file that is 4mb or smaller. You can upload a jpg/jpeg, png, gif, bmp, dpx, or tga file. Once your selected Avatar appears, be sure to click Save to save your changes.

  11. How do I change my Avatar?

    You can change your avatar from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to change your avatar, select Account, click Upload Photo and select a file that is  4mb or smaller. You can upload a jpg/jpeg, png, gif, bmp, dpx, or tga file. When the upload completes, the new avatar will replace your previous user image. Once your new avatar appears, be sure to click Save to save your changes.

  12. Why was my Avatar rejected?

    If your avatar was rejected, it may not comply with HBO.com Community Standards. Please upload a new avatar.

  13. What are program preferences?

    Program Preferences allow you to indicate which HBO programs you are most interested in. Your selections will be used to deliver you the latest content from your favorite HBO series, movies, comedy or sports event to your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to access Program Preferences, select Programs. Once you've updated your Program Preferences, be sure to click Save to save your changes.

  14. I'm a non-US Resident: Why can't I register for your site?

    At this time, only U.S. residents can register for HBO.com.

  15. Why can't I login successfully?

    If you are unable to login successfully, you may need to activate your account. Upon your initial registration, an email was sent to the address you provided containing an activation link. In order to successfully login, you must click on that link and activate your email address.  Already activated?  You may need to reset your password. To do this, click the Forgot Password link in the login box, enter your email address, and click Send. You will receive an email from HBO.com with instructions for how to reset your password. When you receive this email, click the reset link and follow the on-screen instructions.

  16. I forgot my password, what do I do?

    Click the Forgot Password link in the login box, enter your email address, and click Send. You will receive an email from HBO.com with instructions for how to reset your password. When you receive this email, click the reset link and follow the on-screen instructions.

  17. How do I update my account information?

    You can change your account information from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to change your account information, select Account. Once you've updated the information you would like to change, be sure to click Save to save your changes.

  18. How do I unsubscribe from HBO communications?

    If you are a registered user, you can unsubscribe from HBO communications right from your dashboard. To access it, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to unsubscribe from HBO communications, select Subscriptions. Once you've updated the newsletters information you would like to change, be sure to click Save to save your changes.  If you are not a registered user, you can unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter in your inbox.

  19. Why can't I access certain video content?

    HBO.com now has video content intended for a mature audience (TVMA).  In order to access this content, you must be a registered user and log-in to your account.

  20. How do I delete my account? What happens to my account information and site activity?

    If you'd like to delete your account, please email siteadmin@hbo.com.  Be sure to include your log-in information and reason for wanting to delete your account.  Your account information will be completely removed from HBO's system and all content authored by you will become unattributed.

  21. How can I change my registered email address?

    You can change your email address from your dashboard. To access your dashboard, click your display name in the upper right hand corner of the site. Then, to change your email address, select Account. Once you've updated your email address, be sure to click Save to save your changes. You will be prompted to confirm that you entered your email address correctly. Review your email address and click Yes to complete the change or No to correct it. Once you complete this process, you will receive an email from HBO.com with instructions for activating your new address. When you receive this email, click the activation link and follow the on-screen instructions.
